Sotheara grew up in Kampong Cham province. She moved to Phnom Penh to pursue her education in the Department of Media and Communication. Her first experience with research was during high school on the environment and climate change project. After that, through an internship program at Transparency International Cambodia, she also participated in data collection. Through experiences, she recognized the crucial role research skills play in empowering young people. She firmly believes that by equipping with the ability to gather evidence, analyze data, and effectively communicate their findings, she can actively engage in decision-making processes and advocate for positive change.
